Your House Your Art Exhibition: Selected Work
The idea of this project is to make people reflect on what they have been doing during this circuit breaker/lockdown period. For instance, some have been obeying the rule of staying home and social distancing, but others would queue up in long lines for bubble tea, panic buying toilet rolls and not abiding to the “stay at home” rule. Some even resorted to doing things that’s not a part of their usual routine, like going out for a jog while others who still insists on gathering in large groups.
Amidst everything, there are still people who lacks empathy; choosing to record and condemn passers-by for not wearing their masks out when instead they could easily chose to be kind, like bringing an extra mask to give out to those who may have forgotten their own masks. Also, because of this circuit breaker, Singaporeans have been deemed as ‘kiasu’ and mean especially when it comes to the treatment of our own foreign workers, blaming them for the rising toll of cases.
So, with the title “Who Will You Be”, I want to show that there are different types of people and behaviours during this circuit breaker; showing the importance of asking themselves who do they want to be? The nice one or the mean one?
I want to make people realise that it doesn’t take much to be nice to others during this period because we are all in this together.
